Praise the Lord! All of the central district superintendents, leaders and pastors meeting for a men’s retreat are unharmed. They were in the town of Lota, which is very old and sustained major damage. The men stayed in the homes of local church members. These houses, built of wood, did not fare well in the earthquake. The men are currently crossing a two kilometer bridge on foot to reach a city which will have transportation back to Santiago.

A massive 8.8 magnitude earthquake hit Chile this early this morning. The epicenter was located about 200 miles southwest of Santiago, the capital.
At this time, FMWM has received reports that each of these families is safe and accounted for:
- Karim and Carmen Loyola, national leaders
- Ricardo and Beth Gomez, missionaries
- Kay (and Leo) Godoy, missionary
Attempts are being made to reach a group of superintendents, leaders and pastors from the central district who are participating in a men’s retreat approximately 30 minutes from the epicenter. Please pray for their safety.
Please pray for all of our brothers and sisters in Chile as they face this tragedy.
Further updates will be provided as word is received.
